AV festival 06 – Modified, selected, mutated, perfected, corrected.

Autotelematic Spiderbot’s – Ken Rinaldo

‘The theme of the 2006 festival is LIFE. The AV Festival 06 will explore the relationship between digital and biological life as explored by audiovisual practitioners from all disciplines’

‘The Festival will examine the boundaries of what is ‘natural’ and what is ‘synthetic’, and aims to extend and re-work our notions of what life is. How life shifts, evolves and mutates. We will examine how artists and scientists fabricate new life-forms, and the myriad ways in which they interpret this ever-changing world in which we live.’

Works to look forward to include Ken Rinaldo and Matt Howard’s clutch of audience receptive Autotelematic Spiderbot’s, Suguru Goto’s Robot Orchestra and Ryoji Ikeda’s audiovisual piece C4i that explores the connections between data and the natural environment.

You will also get the chance to see some outdoor projections by Marius Watz, whose software art incorporates lush organic structures that evolve (grow?), often slowly, over time.
